Club Meetings

DONATIONS to FOOD BANK and SANTA'S HELPER TOY PROJECT

THANKS to our club members for bringing a total of 123 lbs of food items as a donation plus a great assortment of new toys for the Santa's Helper project in Leduc. Gert Reynar from the Leduc Food Bank was on hand at the December 8th Leduc club meeting to accept the items.
Many THANKS to Gert and her associates for the good work they do in the community.

There will be NO meeting on December 22nd due to the proximity to Christmas.

The next regular meeting of the Leduc club will be held on Thursday January 12th, 2012 at Smitty's Restaurant, Leduc. Those who want to eat arrive at 7:00pm, or earlier, with the actual meeting to start at 7:30pm. All members are encouraged to attend. Guests and prospective new members are welcome.

Programs - Spelling Bee

Our club is planning to hold a local, oral only, Spelling Bee in April of 2012. This is a new project for our club and four Leduc elementary schools expressed interest to participate with the anticipation of two Grade 5 students from each school. Varying prizes will be awarded to each student in the contest. This is meant to be an enjoyable event for the contestants and other attendees.
Knowing the importance of education, our club is hoping this type of reward/incentive for effort and achievement will spur on the student(s) to higher goals and a promising future.
Specific details of date, time and location will be posted when available. THANKS to the schools.

NEXT REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 08th, 2011

The next regular meeting of the Leduc Club is scheduled for Thursday, December 08th, 2011 at Smitty's Restaurant in Leduc. Those who intend to eat should arrive at 7:00pm ( or earlier ) and the actual meeting will start at 7:30pm. All members are encouraged to attend and any others interested in joining, or learning, about Optimist clubs.

We are pleased to announce that a new member to our Leduc Club was signed up as she attended the Zone 5 meeting on November 26th as a guest.
WELCOME to Callista Rooyakkers and THANKS to Trevor Adair for sponsoring her.

Please note that this is the meeting where members are requested to bring donations of non perishable food items for the Leduc Food Bank and also toys for the Santa's Helper Program in Leduc. The toys must be new and in the original packaging. These actions will, again, demonstrate our members' and club's spirit of caring for youth and the community.
A representative from the Food Bank should be on hand to receive the items.
